Obituary of Mr. V Paramaguru – A past pupil and a Teacher at Hartley College

Velautham Paramaguru
22 October 1947 – 18 April 2018
Mr. Velautham Paramaguru sadly passed away on 18th April 2018 at Croydon University Hospital after suffering with pneumonia for a short time. He was 70 at the time of his passing.
Mr. Paramaguru is survived by his wife, Kamaladevy, his son, Kohulan, his daughter, Kharunya, and his son-in-law, Tom. He was a loving husband, father and brother as well as a beloved uncle and friend to many in the community in the UK, Sri Lanka, and around the world. Mr. Paramaguru was a much-loved physics teacher for many years at Hartley College until he moved to the UK in 1990.
Mr. Paramaguru was born in Point Pedro on 22nd October 1947, the second son of Velautham and Visaladchi. He was the first in his family to attend university, where he commenced his degree in physical sciences at the University of Peradeniya in 1969.
Paramaguru master also worked as a demonstrator at the University of Peradeniya before joining Hartley as a Teacher. He joined Hartley College, where he was a former pupil, as a teacher in 1973. During his time at Hartley he taught Physics, Maths and Applied Maths.
He served as our Vice Patron to HCPPA(UK).
Mr. Paramaguru will be remembered for his kindness, his thoughtful nature, his sharp wit, and his mischievous streak. He was generous, considerate, humble and diligent, and always committed to his family and friends. He brought joy and wisdom to so many lives, and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

The cremation will take place at 11am on Saturday 28th April 2018 at Croydon Cemeteries & Crematorium, Mitcham Road, Croydon CR9 3AT. Please arrive early to ensure a prompt start.

Tribute from Mr.V.Santhalingam (Past President HCPPA(UK)
It is with profound sadness that I am writing to let you all know that Mr. V. Paramaguru who was a student at Hartley College, passed away yesterday in Croydon, UK.
Paramaguru, was about 2 years junior to me at school but he taught at Hartley for a long time before he moved to UK in the mid- 80s. In the recent past he has been the Vice-patron (jointly with Mrs Shanthy Arulanantham – KP’s daughter) of HCCPPA UK. I recently witnessed him honoured as a past Teacher at the Hartleyites Global get-together held at Hartley College, Point Pedro, in September 2017.
As most of my classmates living in and around London will remember that whenever we had a get-together at my place, I always invited him as a guest. I will sadly miss him
