Our association has donated two (2) cabinets, books and games equipment worth Rs.100,000/= to the village libraries Kilali and Ketpali to increase the literacy levels of war affected students in the above villages...

During his recent visit to the school, Mr. Yoganathan gathered valuable information about the current activities of the school and brought back a lot of photographs.

As a part of academic curriculum students at Hartley are keenly learning music as a subject. The school has difficulty in sourcing various musical instruments from the Education department. The Principal has requested OBA's around the world through the Global trust to source various musical instrument.
The HCPPA-NSW immediately swung into action & donated Rs.55, 000 for the purchase of Veenai. There is no maintenance or training cost as it is within school activity & paid by the department.
Hartley College PPA, NSW, has donated $1000 to the NGO, The Centre for Child Development (CFCD), to help with their charitable activities in Vanni.

Last month, fulfilment of a long-term need of the school took shape when the foundation stone for a new canteen and conference hall was laid by the Principal and Mr. Sivanesan Muruguppillai, President, HCPPA (Point Pedro)

In December, Jaffna Hindu OBA in Sydney organised a gala day where they played a cricket match and then donated sports equipment to other past pupils associations in Sydney. Hartley College PPA, NSW will pass these on to schools in Vanni where there is a real need for such equipments.

Mr.Thambithurai Vijiraj, a Hartleyite, has passed away on the 5th of May 2012 at the age of 72.
He is leaving behind his wife Flora (Sinnadurai) and two sons and a daughter-in-law. He is the brother-in-law of Professor Wilson who is the brother of Victor Sinnadurai.
He is from Chavakachcheri and studied at Hartley College from 1956 to 1958 for his A-levels.
